Custom made Fireplace Mantel Iguana Art & Design

A true classic design. The Regency is a modern traditional style that fits well in any setting. This one is shown in a Clear Alder. Instead of using Knotty Alder we are showing this in clear, to demonstrate the natural variations in graining. Even though knots are not present in the stain, it has taken on blemished highlights inherent with Alder. A dark walnut stain makes the graining even more pronounced. My father designed this style back in 1981 and it has proven to be a very popular choice. It’s one of our most asked for designs.

Mission

Iguana Art & DEsign Custom Made Fireplace Mantel

One day after browsing through a desert/southwestern architectural publication, I decided that we needed a turn of the century block-style, mission mantel. Here it is in a Wormy Maple with multiple ledge corbels and of course straight lines. The top is 9″ deep…generous enough for any size photo or portrait. My personal preference is to see this design around a 1″ tile mosaic facing.

Hampton

A more traditional look at a lower price. One day, about 15 years ago, I walked past a very similar mantel design in a Victorian home in the avenues of Salt Lake City, Utah. I feel in love with its look, and made some mental notes, then went straight back to the studio and sketched out a version of what I remembered. Half Craftsman, half Victorian, it has again that turn of the century look and feel that I’m so fond of. The posts for the mantel are turned one at a time full length, then split in half and placed on the leg facings. There is reverse look inherent with the Craftsman era that most never notice. The top flat portion of the post is taller than the bottom portion. Modern mantel designs are just the opposite having the larger pieces at the bottom. I love this stuff… can you tell?

Beam and Brace

The mantel featured here is a brand new Beam and Brace design. Inspired by the Rocky Mountains and in the tradition of rustic beauty, we developed the Beam and Brace mantel to work with a cabin home and to have the feel of the ski resort just like the resorts that are just minutes away from our shop. Beam and Brace is made with Knotty Alder, one of my favorite materials to work with. Then we add distressing, glazing, and thick corner braces. Giving the mantel a look that is very rustic and chic. The color and glazing give this mantel a medium brown hue, rich with walnut tones. All are hand finished and distressed one at a time making each mantel very unique.

Our Bayside model has classic written all over its traditional look. Shown here in a painted finish it really demonstrates the feel of turn of the century craftsmanship. This has been a first choice again and again where designers have required a more classic look.
